How to Care and Grow String Of Pearls

As the name of this succulent, it is grown with beautiful pearls shaped beads that are always remembered by its name because of its uniqueness and beauty. The binomial name of the string of pearls is ” Curio rowleyanus. ” The string of pearls belong to the Asteraceae family and founded in east Africa. People know this with different names such as String of pearls, a string of beads, string of rosary beads. The most familiar is a string of pearls succulent in east Africa and other countries.

How To Grow A String Of Pearls

The green little beads that place narrows in simultaneously position with trailing stems. Which makes them gorgeous as hanging ornaments in indoor or outdoor interiors. The stem will grow approx 2 to 3 feet long with a strong trailing stem. String of pearls with beautiful white flowers enhances its beauty, and they love to grow in the spring season. A string of pearls succulent needs low maintenance and care. And can live five years if you care correctly.

If you want to place a string of pearls as your indoor ornaments, then you have to know about its care and maintenance. Because good care and maintenance gives a long life to all living things and makes it more beautiful. Here we discussed some important points of a string of pearls care.

String of Pearls Light

A well-growing string of pearls needs indirect light from the sun because it does not tolerate direct heat from the sun. It may slow down the growth and die the leaves. You should place a string of heart pot indoors and outdoors but under the shade. The string of pearls needs 6 hours bright light in winters per day and 3 to 4 hours bright light in summer springs.

String of Pearls Temperature

For indoors, the best temperature for a string of pearls should be 70 degrees Fahrenheit.  And for outdoors 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature goes up and down, you should maintain it artificially. They can’t tolerate cool high tempers in winter, and they go to shifts indoors.

Like the other plants, they also require well-drained soil for good growth.  It would be best if you kept a wide pot for well-drained soil.  And soil should be moist in summer no let it too dry and overwatering. The overwatering can damage your plant. Terracotta is the most useful soil nowadays.  If you don’t like and afford premade soil, then try your own homemade succulent soil. Sanding soil is also suitable for a string of pearls.

String of Pearls Water

We recommend giving water to the string of pearls one to two times a week in a summer spring. Keep avoid overwatering. Firstly, you should check if the soil texture is too dry or not; if it’s dry a lot, then sprinkle some water to moist. But in winter they need water once a month.

How to propagate of String of Pearl

The string of pearls propagation is effortless and quick. If you have one string of pearls succulent, you can propagate through this, and this one can live  4 to 5 years if you care a lot. See these propagate methods one by one.

  1. We are going to propagate through cutting methods.
  2. It would be best if you had a sharp blade to cut the leaves approx 3 to 4 inches long
  3. Mix a well-drained soil into the wide pot
  4. Place these cut roots into the soil about 1 inch into the soil And press it slightly.
  5. Place it under the bright light
  6. Keep the soil moist in summer
  7. The temperature should not fall below the 30 degrees Fahrenheit in summer
  8. Let it for some time, and then you will see it will grow out gradually. This is the easiest way to propagate a string of pearls for beginners.
